• I am tied up on the 9th with hockey and scouts. But this sounds like a promising buy. The parts should be new (or nearly new) if the program never got off the ground.

IMHO, Word Crimes is a much better song than Blurred Lines. When the parody outshines the original, that says as much about the original than the parody.

I prefer Weird Al’s Word Crimeshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Gv0H-vPoDc – as musical guidance on matters of the Queen’s English. 😛

  • These events have stood the test of time for us and I support using them for 2018 LUG support. Also, these events are long-standing, independent events.

I am willing to build something for a Bethel Park library display. As I recall, the display case is relatively small so it should not be too difficult to get 10 people to contribute.

I’m guessing it’s related to the use of the word “Lego”, although there may be another error there. While I generally try to be correct, I don’t proof read posts like I do legal documents. :-p

A friend of mine in Richmond had a small house and stored all of his Lego (brick and MOCs) in his attic for years without any noticeable harm. The attic was not temperature controlled. Richmond is know for it’s slightly warm summers (several months of 90+ and days of 100+ are not uncommon). He measured temps in the 125+ in his attic during the…[Read more]

Welcome aboard. Greg already commented on the “Billund” in the endzone (NFL Europe maybe?). I like how you used plates to create the field lines and markings, as well as the orange 1×1 bricks as the end zone pylons. Details are everything. Hope you can make the August 19 meeting!

For the most part, they have managed to avoid the “pyramid” look, even without any landscaping. Once they throw some vegetation onto the mountainside, it should look very organic.

Very nice depiction of Heinz Field. Also like the touch of greenery at the base of the Highmark Building. It gives life to the scene. And as Ben says, nice part use for the Clemente Bridge.

Not bad. Cathedral, US Steel Tower and a bridge are givens. I would have probably gone either Gulf building or Highmark building, and either Grant Building or K&L Gates. One of the stadiums would work also. But that just shows that Pittsburgh has some nice architecture.

As a practical matter, one usually wants to avoid having a turn out immediately after a curve. The trains (at least 9-v) tend to bind up and have difficulty maintaining momentum. It usually is a good idea to have at least 2 pieces of straight track after the curve before another curve or turnout.

PFFT! There is only one mention of “Steel City LUG” but about 50 “I”, “my”, and “me” in there. Did you think the article was supposed to be about you? How egotistical!

Totally just kidding. 🙂 Awesome write up. I always enjoy getting a creator’s thoughts on the design and building process. One of my favorite details is the track and how…[Read more]

@bengood921 No worries, thanks for the offer. 🙂

  • I’m very interested to hear from those staffing this event as to public reaction and comment to this. I love how it is at kids’ eye level. Great job everyone who helped bring this to realization. Now we need to start working on going “up” (i.e. mountains).

I just looked at a bunch of images on Google. Wow, this is definitely going on my list of Pittsburgh buildings to build. Time to start stocking up on tan brick again.

Slight threadjack: one of the pictures that came up was an interior picture showing the Hannibal Lecter cage from Silence of the Lambs. I knew that the scene was filmed in…[Read more]

Ah, ok. I’ve never been in that building. I was highly impressed that a high school would have such an ornate backdrop for its auditorium.

  • Tim replied to the topic Threadjacking in the forum All Things LEGO! 3 months ago

Very nice speech. The auditorium is lovely. I was listening to you and pondering how to recreate the background in Lego. Congrats on the award. Obviously, well deserved! And 10 points to Gryffindor for the HP voice work.
