During our last space build, Ben talked about a cyberpunk-esque collaborative build called New Hashima. I got lost in a YouTube rabbit hole about it but the idea intrigues me. I was wondering what would be the interest in doing something like this for the ultimate brick-show Pittsburgh?

Here’s a good Bricknerd article on it:

Here is a video on how to make the standard cube:

Pretty sure @si-mocs and perhaps @hacim are at least partially responsible for this…

Yeah, Simon was one of the lead organizers for the display at BrickWorld, and I contributed a little to his section.

It’s a cool idea, but I doubt I’d be able to commit to a cube.

Built one with a buddy for the Atlanta convention. Was really fun to do. 10/10 reccomend. I’d be down to do a New Pittsburgh if I can make it to the convention.

    responsible for this…

Are those 4×8 tan parts on the skyscraper to the right made of multiple pieces or just a single one that I don’t recognize?

Has this discussion gone any further? Now that I am certainly attending, I’m open to helping to organize such a collaboration, should there be enough participation to make it worthwhile.

I brought this up at Q3 and wanted to revive this thread. There seems to be a small amount of interest. If there is not enough for a large display, we can always adjust or downscale so we still have something.

The other option to consider is doing something inspired by the Rebel LUG Archipelago collaboration, which were essentially a bunch of floating islands. This would allow for a smaller amount of people to create a larger and more spaced out display.

Here’s an example of what a Lug version of New Hashima could look like: https://www.flickr.com/photos/the_inventor/54746640958/in/dateposted/

Something like Archipelago is still definitely an easier concept. But I think either are doable. All just depends on people’s interest.
