JoshKeymasterI had this idea in the discord channel, but let’s flesh the standard out a bit in this thread. https://discordapp.com/channels/1030207681052557322/1343750277982846996/1347935020412571780
@laura – we certainly on for a fall trolley display? That’s where I’m thinking this will play a role.LUG will provide the green 2×4 bricks to serve as the ‘grid’ around the grave sites. additional tree decor and such welcome. if we have enough entries, maybe we’ll even have a build day for it, building a road through it and other scenes and such.
The idea is that a plot is a 6×10 stud area. they’ll be divided in a grid with a 2 stud gap all around, meaning, if you want to do a side by side plot (think husband and wife) it will be a 14×10 plot (2×6+2 inner grid), or if you wanted to do a family of 4 / millionaire taking a 2×2 plot to be buried with his ‘84 corvette, it will be 14×22. got it?
if you want to just throw down a tomb stone, think 2×4 base. Maybe we can get a bunch of these from the lug funds in a blank style (like those 1×4 double bows on top of 2-3 1×4 bricks, etc.

ParticipantThis is a neat idea. I second it – if that is needed.

JoshKeymasterOh! I didn’t even think about doing a visual! In my mind, the headstone needs to be in the plot area, to ensure we have paths between plots. If we didn’t, in your example, someone who made a sarcophagus couldn’t use the full plot because it would be against the headstone.

+1 for my procrastinating until this weekend to make a post! What’s funny is you came up with this challenge 🙂

ParticipantAre we still doing this?
July 16, 2025 at 2:29 pm #65159
JoshKeymasterThat was my understanding…was something else usurping it?

Josh SchuParticipanthey just an over thinking engineer here, whats the rules on the challenge? size limits? goals?
July 29, 2025 at 10:12 am #65396
DanParticipantValid sizes are (in studs):
6×10
14×10
14×22No height reactions.
Headstones must be in your grid (NOT outside as I had them in the render).
Goal is to have fun! Sometimes people have a little story to go along with the build. We just have someone who didn’t participate judge the entries.

Josh SchuParticipantthank you!! And is this pre build or build at q3?
July 29, 2025 at 11:19 am #65398
DanParticipantPrebuilt. There will be a lot of other fun stuff going on at Q3 – not enough time to sit and build!

Greg SchubertParticipantThe Q3 meeting is now a week away! So to clarify, each build challenge entry will be a single gravesite that conforms to the previously stated dimensions,
Valid sizes are (in studs):
6×10
14×10
14×22rather than each entry being an entire graveyard. And there is no need to MILS or whatever, each build will simply rest atop a gravesite. Is that correct?

Sorry I never responded to this! each person’s build should just have a plated bottom and I guess we should put some tiles at the base of each plot, so they can just sit inside the graveyard grid. I was just thinking of using the lug’s 2×4 green brick (wonder where those all went…) on baseplates for a really simply build. Maybe we can make some of those tomorrow morning. So, I guess that’s technically below MILS (since it’s just 1 brick on a baseplate). I’m happy to hear anyone else’s suggestions, but that’s probably the easiest to implement, right?

Greg SchubertParticipantI wish I had brainstormed ideas for this gravesite project because I just realized that a gravesite for the Heinz Field sign would be really appreciated by the general public at the trolley museum. I’m looking forward to what other people created!

JoshKeymasterThanks for the pics, bob!
Remind me, who got the cups for this one? Kristen took the set? Greg got 1 cup? Ken got half?
August 23, 2025 at 6:28 pm #65732
JoshKeymasteralso, looks like fall trolley is more than likely happening now, so keep those builds from the challenge and build more, even if you didn’t participate, you’ll still have a place to display!!

JoshKeymasterIncase you missed it, we need graces and such for trolley. If you can be at the museum Sunday, great. I’ll be in city limits Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday if you want to coordinate a meet up and I’ll take them the rest of the way down.
