I’ve not kept it secret that I suffer from polycystic kidney disease. It has progressed to the point that my care team has placed me on the transplant list. A living donor is the best chance I’ve got to continue living an active and relatively healthy life. I would appreciate help in spreading the word on social media as I do not have Facebook, Twitter/Bluesky, Instagram, etc. Here is a message with the relevant information (the critical info being the link and my name):

My friend’s inherited kidney condition has progressed faster than anticipated, so at the age of 35 his care team has recommended a kidney transplant. A living donor is his best chance to continue a healthy and active life. If you know anyone who may be willing to donate please direct them to https://livingdonorreg.upmc.com/ and ask that they specify Daniel Walker as the recipient. Blood type does not matter, only a willingness to give. Please share this post!

    Thank you!

Thank you for your support. It’s not a surprise, but progressed quicker than expected.

My wife works with nephrologists across the country and we have some great ones here in Pittsburgh. Praying for a quick and successful match for you, Dan.

Sorry to hear this Dan. My dad was a nephrologist – hearing and sharing this information has really evoked an emotional response.

I wanted to thank everyone for your support. I have received a kidney transplant and am recovering. I won’t make it to TUBS this year, but hope to be back to 100% soon!

I’m sorry to hear that you won’t be at TUBS, but considering that you needed the transplant, presumably this has to be considered good news. Will you at least be able to attend TUBS as a public spectator, or is that not an option right now? If not, I’ll send you some pics when we’re there.

Nope, can’t even spectate (need to avoid crowds for now). Pics would be appreciated!
