Participant@timf can you bring to the meeting the mountain/door sections of the base? Then I can start getting them ready for Brick Fair. Thanks!

ParticipantI have registered some of my winter village MOC’s for BFVA’25 but I am wondering if it would be better to display them as individual buildings or integrate them into a more comprehensive display.
One display consideration is that some of the buildings are not just exteriors, but also have detailed interiors. I previously tried displaying the hospital and bank at Brick Erie with the buildings turned sideways and the interiors facing outward. (see WiP photo)
The school is really wide, so I want to turn the interior to the front again and have a mirror behind it to show the exterior of the school. For the buildings which are not as wide, I have unpowered turntables so they can be easily be rotated. Of course the mirror and the rotating buildings would be easier to accommodate without other scenery around them.
Thoughts?

I have seen people do both. They register the larger display as a MOC, and then several individual components from said larger MOC. Regardless I think both options are acceptable!

ParticipantIs anyone interested in helping out with my friend Mike’s collab? It’s an expanded version of this collab they had last year: https://www.flickr.com/photos/epic-fail-time/53907385717/in/dateposted/
It sounds like the design work is pretty much done, but they are looking for help with building up the infrastructure (So basically, I think Mike would send you some studio files and you would mostly follow a standard structural design, and maybe just add little details here and there)
I attached a screenshot of the message he sent me. If you’re interested, let me know and I can get you connected.Attachments:

ParticipantI would certainly be down to assist but I would want more info and to see what I’m building/how much freedom I’ve got… if it’s customizable modules similar to NH I’m definitely interested, if I’m following instructions to a T less so.

ParticipantDid we ever finalize table set up? How much space do I get?

ModeratorI was perusing the list of Attendees on the Brickfair website, and here is who is listed so far as attending from Steel City LUG:
Jacob Freshly
Timothy Freshly
Jonah Frost
Tom Frost
Benjamin Good
Alexis McDine
William McDine
Anne Schubert
Greg Schubert
Jonathan Wagner
Kristin WagnerI only was looking at Pennsylvania, so I may have missed a few (like Logan) who are likely registered under a different state.
Also a reminder that July 11 is the deadline for uploading a picture for your custom printed tile. It is showing as a 2×3 tile this year which was a nice surprise.

Participantuploading a picture for your custom printed tile.
Since all four of us are registered attendees, I am designing 4 of them. I’m almost done with the first, Penelope’s tile:

ParticipantTim – My husband and I are also registered and planning to attend. (Ann Flavin and James Flavin). I am bringing a display, James is just coming along. This is my first time at BrickFair and I am not sure what to do with the custom printed tile. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

ParticipantI am not sure what to do with the custom printed tile.
This is an opportunity to be creative! You can have an image of anything that you want to be printed on a 2×3 tile … a favorite team, a favorite pet, a favorite drink. Then you can incorporate the tile into just about anything ranging from your brickfair display to a magnet for your fridge!
The only caveat is that it cannot be part of your official BrickfairVA “badge” (which serves as your pass into the show) but I plan to use the 2×3 tile in a separate badge.

ParticipantIs there any guidance for file size? I can’t find anything on the website.

ModeratorIs there any guidance for file size?
Not really. You have to play around with the upload a bit. The site will show your picture but you may only be able to select a portion of it. It can be a bit tricky to get it aligned correctly (sometimes it looks aligned and then when you save it, it is off-center, in which case you go back and do it again).

ModeratorAll 3 of us are signed up with the LUG, we’re just not showing in the directory at the moment. On my to-do list.
June 11, 2025 at 8:30 pm #64769JR
ParticipantI officially signed up and registered today. However, if searching by state I’d be signed under West Virginia. I hate to be a broken record and bother whoever’s job it is, but did we finalize table sizes? I went to register MOCs and realized I’m not sure how much space I am actually getting.
June 12, 2025 at 7:13 am #64771Jonathan Wagner
ParticipantThe current map is your space I believe, whatever Ben had to reduce it down to to make Todd happy.
June 12, 2025 at 9:47 am #64773JR
Participant@argonvesher is the current map the one @bengood921sent out April 16th? I thought it had to be shrinked from there was my confusion.
June 15, 2025 at 12:03 pm #64809Jonathan Wagner
ParticipantThe one from the 16th WAS shrunk down and sent to Todd. No pushback if I recall so that’s what we have to go with.
It still amuses me that they are saying we can’t have the space we need..how else can we display all the stuff we have? We are cramming the space as much as we can to fit as much as we have.
I wonder if they are wanting to have more group/collab type build things instead of individual to make things more uniform and epic. If so that’s fine, but be transparent about what your vision for this thing is to be.
June 15, 2025 at 12:16 pm #64810JR
ParticipantAh understood. @timf if you still plan on bringing your great hall I can just place the boathouse with you and have it separate from my things, or you, @argonvesher and Kristin can figure out how to rearrange yourselves.
@argonvesher you wondering about the spacing issue is more generous than mine… I just assumed ineptitude.June 15, 2025 at 12:19 pm #64811Jonathan Wagner
Participant@jrbookworm wouldn’t be that difficult to move your table to between Tim and I and slide Kristin and myself down. Long as we still all have space to move and such.
June 15, 2025 at 12:20 pm #64812JR
Participant@argonvesher whatever works. I suppose at the end of the day it’s up to @bengood921. I guess my only concern is that I’ve got the two smaller tables.
June 15, 2025 at 12:22 pm #64813Jonathan Wagner
ParticipantRight but if it makes sense to be there, it will all still fit. The double stacked tables together just make it look a lil more uniform I guess. The Hoth snowfield to me really works best on a corner but it’s all good.
