Matt RedfieldKeymasterAnyone else having issuez?
I try to log into Bricklink, it forces me to enter my LEGO.com info. Then it asks “do you have a Bricklink account?” I’m like “yeah” and enter that info. Then it tells me wrong password. Even after I just now reset my password for BL using their very own “reset password” link.
The email from mid-August says if you don’t merge, your BL will be deactivated on Dec 31st; implying you can still use it until then. But I can’t find a way out of the loop that’s forcing me to log into LEGO account – nowhere will it let me just log in with my 10+ year old BL account and use like I used to (or try to troubleshoot this merging process once inside my BL account, for that matter.)
Given BL’s stellar track record of support, I figured I’d ask here first… is this a PEBKAC situation, or am I right to be slightly perturbed?

Matt RedfieldKeymasterAaaand I figured it out. They wanted my BL username, not my BL email that I have used to log in to BL for years.
Related is the attached gem of a screenshot, which I encountered after solving the above….

Benjamin C GoodParticipantYeah I thought it was strange that they said “enter your email or username” and then when I entered my email, they said no, enter your username instead. But I got it to work also.

Matt RedfieldKeymasterI’m just mad at how long it took me to figure out. Maybe I’m losing my touch. But it shouldn’t have taken a half hour of trying repeatedly. And surely, I’m not the least savvy of their users… others will probably also be frustrated.

PLAYINGWITHECHOESParticipantI found that same issue as well as another one with the passwords. Apparently my password was too long for BL and they didn’t include the last two characters though I typed it in all this time. When Lego took over with the merging account requirement, their integration sign-in form did account for the last two characters so I kept getting an error message. After an hour, I got it to work. Will McDineParticipantI just went and did mine, I had zero issues. One thing I did find weird was when I logged out of Bricklink I went to Shop.Lego.com and I was still logged in. So be careful of that.
One other thing I am curious on is I am listed as a seller on Bricklink (I made a store years ago but never listed an inventory and Never even opened the store). Do we think I will still earn VIP Points when I make purchases at the LEGO stores? I have heard mixed things on this and I don’t know how to change my status from seller on Bricklink

I had not noticed that this could be an issue. I need the answer to that also, because I want my VIP points. I last sold on BL in 2008, and after my inventory got deleted out, I made an attempt to relist it all in 2012 (I spent hours and hours on it but only did a fraction of what I have) and never re-opened. Right now it’s now it’s of the lowest priority and isn’t happening anytime soon.

I did some research and based on everything I found it looks like you only loose your VIP points (or the accrual of them) if you are registered as a business seller and not as a private seller. So we should be good

This seems to still be the case. I urge everyone to get into the habit of checking both platforms whenever you use one or the other. This also counts if you log into Stud.Io. I logged into the Stud.Io platform and found I was logged into both ShopLego and Bricklink.
