Hello everyone – passing along some information about another convention that was posted in the LAN forum. They would love someone from Steel City LUG to attend.

For those who expressed interest in ROCLUG’s Western NY event at Corning Museum of Glass, we have the finalized dates and are beginning signups so we know how many tables we will need. Here’s what I have so far:

    10/24/2025 – Setup (Time TBD)

10/25 & 26/2025 – Event open to Public (hours TBD)

We are planning to have activities for all participating displayers, including parts draft (buy-in or supply set TBD), speed build, raffle drawing and some sort of after-hours fun for the 21+ people.

Signup form here: ROCLUG Corning Event Registration – October 2025

If you have any issues with the link, please let me know! There may also be the possibility of discounted or FREE accommodations for those who are travelling a good distance, so let me know if that might impact your ability to participate.

Feel free to share the link with your members and with any vendors you know that may be interested!

ROCLUG has been working on getting our Corning Museum of Glass event locked in and I have some updated details to share:

Event has been named Empire Brick Con after our primary sponsor.
We have set up a Discord server to discuss table requests, plan collaborations and other event details: https://discord.gg/mhMgNxUeEJ

We have a block of hotel rooms at the Hilton in Corning reserved for participants. AT MOST the cost will be $112 per night with our group rate, but we are working on additional funding options to bring the cost down significantly (possibly to be zero charge!). If accommodations are prohibitive to participation, we already have a few rooms available that will be no charge.

The main auditorium will have 60 tables of display, with several other smaller satellite displays throughout the museum. Total display will be roughly 80-90 tables, many of which are 4′ x 8′ or 8′ round.

We will have a live-build mural featuring Corning Landmarks and Glass-working (design still in the works).

T-shirts for the event will be provided to all participants!

So far, we have several LUGs that have either signed up or are interested in participating: ColonialLUG, ILUGNY, BuffaLUG.

Let me know if anyone is going to go or needs more info.

Corning is a nice town and the museum is well worth a visit. You can learn about fresnel lenses that are used in lighthouses and why glass windows are thicker at the bottom. One of the best features is to see accomplished glass-blowing artisans at work!

The drawback is that it is a 5 hour drive to get there. Erie and Buffalo are much closer. Of course, free overnight accommodations would make participation significantly less expensive.

Is there a theme for this event, especially considering that it is a week before Halloween?

Denise and I are interested in attending and displaying at this event! We’re both from Upstate NY, and I grew up about an hour north of Corning.

I signed up on the event Discord server and will keep an eye out for when event registration opens.
