    Hey Everyone!
Guess what?! We have been chosen to run a special limited time test – only two stores are participating in the company! Welcome to the LEGO Take Back Program! Where we give you $4 per pound of brick you would like to recycle! Gift cards are immediate, and we weigh your brick IN STORE! How cool is that! It all starts with you and this link:
    https://legobricktakeback.com/en-US
The limit is 25 pounds per box, 100 pounds total per person, and instructions are all on the site!
So come in and help us develop this program for the company and give us your honest feedback!
HMU with any questions and come check out the new machine!

I could imagine some parents bringing in a tub of parts just because they’re not being used … but they might not want a giftcard to buy more lego.

At this point, do you know what happens to the parts that are turned in or do you just ship them back in the delivery truck?

I doubt LEGO could resell these parts so they would have to be donated. Hopefully they would go to schools in need, especially in developing nations.

If LUG support boxes start showing up with crayons, instruction pages, hairclips and Mega blocks, we’ll know where the buy-back boxes went. 😀

Great question! The big idea is to keep them out of the landfill. They will most likely clean them and continue to donate them, like to the Boys and Girls club of America. There are other ideas in the works, but that’s what we know right now.
They go through the boxes, and each one has a special code per guest. The test right now is to decide is what practice for taking back brick works the best. There are two other stores trying a “coin star” type of approach.

There’s a brick edu program something or rather with CMU. Might want to check to see if they could use some donated bricks.
