JoshKeymasterJust a matter of staffing the display more and being viable to tear down then.

JoshKeymastergot this in from Kristen:
Hi!
During our staff meeting, the question came up about when the layout will be up through! We have our volunteer Christmas dinner right after the last Santa Trolley on Dec 21.
For the first time, the museum is open between Christmas and the New Year, so everyone was wondering if LUG would be willing to keep the layout up those days. I understand that’s a whole staffing issue, so I totally understand if not, but I told everyone I would ask!
Thanks so much,
what do you all think?

JoshKeymasterI see we need some people to staff tomorrow and Saturday.
any pictures of the display? OneBurgh, on facebook, has been featuring people’s train displays – https://www.facebook.com/PittsburghPA and I thought we should send some pictures in.

JoshKeymasterAll stanchions are at my house, but I’m happy to take them to trolley tear down for someone else to take home.

JoshKeymasterfixed the bug! Thanks for reporting it. When I added in the feature to create ‘generic’ shifts that were not restricted to using dates/times, I broke the sign up button.

JoshKeymasteranyone thinking about how to get stuff from trolley museum for that weekend? maybe we do try to empty out of trolley museum at tear down and divide and conquer all the bins since I can’t fit everything in the van. If you know you won’t use the lug tables, I think I can fit all/just those in my van.
as to custom tables, we built a 2×3 standard baseplate table, and I’ve got plenty of wood to make whatever other dimensions needed at request/confirmation.

JoshKeymasterI’m not offended…

JoshKeymasterIt should have prevented anyone else from signing up once it’s reached its max. The only exception should be admins/owner of the event…I’ll have to check for bugs. I know it used to work. I’d keep anyone signed up for now though to maintain encouraging staffing. Josh’s mistakes means the members benefit!

JoshKeymasterCultural trust asked for a floor plan…I just told them 4 tables, a few chairs, maybe 20’x10’…so, whatever we do should fit into that foot print…

JoshKeymasterHow’d set up go yesterday?
@thoga1109 you planning to pull super man duty on weekdays? No pressure, just trying to plan for our needsNovember 21, 2025 at 7:26 pm #67017
JoshKeymasterI’m out of town. I can send a email blast to everyone if you want that.
As an aside, and possible motivator, I’m going to start a separate thread ahead of Q4 on an idea I have to have paid events be able to buy a set or sets and have people who staff events get a raffle credit. Should help with the sustainability of sets if Lego takes that away. I’m thinking to start that with this event.

JoshKeymasterHi Josh,
I hope all is well, we’re excited to have your participation at First Night this year!
I am reaching out to inform you that the activity location for Steel City LUG has been moved from the Byham Theater to the Benedum Lot (641 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222).
Due to construction taking place within the cultural district ahead of the opening of Arts Landing, the decision has been made to implement a smaller footprint for First Night, and the Byham Theater will be completely offline for the duration of the evening.
The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnerships is utilizing the Benedum Lot for their Holiday Market and will be leaving the tent up through the New Year’s for Cultural Trust usage. Since Fifth Avenue Place is at capacity, we’ve decided to transition the lego activity into the Benedum Lot from 7-11PM.
Although the location space will be different than previous years, please note that the tent is carpeted, heated, and will be in a central location within the First Night footprint. There will be signage to let people know where your activity will be.
Feel free to bring signs/posters to promote anything upcoming in your organization as well to get the word out.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
Best,
Breannelooking for ideas of what to do. Anyone interested in doing a live build of the year again?

JoshKeymasterIncase you missed it, we need graces and such for trolley. If you can be at the museum Sunday, great. I’ll be in city limits Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday if you want to coordinate a meet up and I’ll take them the rest of the way down.

JoshKeymasterput some work in the box that gabe started yesterday. It has wheels and should replace the 2 very heavy sneezeguard boxes we have. It might take a few times of use to see if there are improvements to it that are needed, but the goal is to not have to pick it up, be able to put things on top of it, and have all our sneezeguard in 1 place. I got a little wild with the router…and then my clamps came off so I just stopped making grooves at that point…I think it’s enough to get started.
with the other thread about table legs, I’ll plan for another build day – see thread.
