Bob GrierParticipantAll stanchions are at my house, but I’m happy to take them to trolley tear down for someone else to take home.
Sounds good. I’ll let you know how many we need beforehand.
On another note, I still have (4) LUG commercial tables (6 ft. x 30″), (4) LUG chairs and the easy-up that Greg donated to the LUG earlier this year sitting in my garage. If they’re needed for any of the December events, let me know and I can arrange a drop-off or bring them back to @joshhall’s house next time I’m in the South Hills.

Bob GrierParticipantanyone thinking about how to get stuff from trolley museum for that weekend? maybe we do try to empty out of trolley museum at tear down and divide and conquer all the bins since I can’t fit everything in the van. If you know you won’t use the lug tables, I think I can fit all/just those in my van.
as to custom tables, we built a 2×3 standard baseplate table, and I’ve got plenty of wood to make whatever other dimensions needed at request/confirmation.
@joshhall, I just signed up for teardown at Trolley on the 21st and can take a bunch of the bins of MILS stuff that we’ll need for Locomotion Weekend, but I don’t know if I can take it all and still have room for the stuff I need to take to Locomotion. @timf, can you take some of it as well, especially the stanchions??As of right now, the Science Center has said that we can’t have any more space than what we had last year, so it’s doubtful that we’ll be able to modify the layout to include Michael’s bridge. For sure we won’t be using any of the LUG tables, but we will need some of the stanchions.

Bob GrierParticipantI can contribute these dinosaur skeletons from the display we did at the Science Center in 2021. The rest of the scene has been disassembled but I still have the dinosaur skeletons together in a box somewhere in the garage. The Diplodocus is a MOC (Dippy from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History), and the rest are from the LEGO Ideas Dinosaur Fossil set from a few years ago.
@greg, there is power (extension cord) available in that case.Attachments:

Bob GrierParticipantThat’s right @gabevistica. Another reason why we always left space around the perimeter in the past. We might want to leave space (or use a spacer) between two of the tables on the left side to account for this and let the MILS bases span the gap.

Bob GrierParticipantHere’s a first pass layout to chew on! I had some time over the weekend to play with this.
For reference, we’ve always used 30″x72″ venue tables for this event, primarily because of the logistics of getting the LUG tables there and back, and also to avoid the bottleneck at the elevator and loading dock with the other train clubs that typically bring large pre-assembled modules to this event. Our usual “layout” is on a grid that’s 3 tables wide by 4 tables deep (11 tables total with an open space in the middle). To add the bridge, I added one more table to the left side making the grid 3 tables wide by 5 tables deep (12 tables total with a bigger open space in the middle).
Couple of things to note:
* We’ve always left a 5″ space open between the MILS bases and the edge of the tables. To make the bridge fit, I’m right to the edge of the tables on the top and bottom sides in this layout.
* In order to fit, the bridge has to start and end right at the MILS bases that either exit or enter the long radius curves. Don’t know if this will be an issue with some of @playingwithechoes longer wheelbase engines and cars, especially as they go under the drive side structure of the bridge.
* Since the movable portion of the bridge is 40″ wide, I had to land 10″ of that on a table. That may be an issue with the structure of the bridge at the landing point.
* In this layout we would lose one of the 9v loops that would have normally been on the right side, but that still leaves us with (2) RC long radius loops, (1) 9v double track loop, and (1) 9v single track loop.
* We used our own stanchions last year and would definitely need to bring them again for this layout.By comparison, our footprint last year was 18 ft. wide by 10 ft. deep without stanchions, and our footprint with this layout would be 18 ft. wide by 12′-6 deep without stanchions.

Bob GrierParticipant@playingwithechoes, let’s discuss at TUBS. I think you, @timf and I are all in the same display area.
Tim confirmed last week that we would be there again this year, but other than that no real planning has been done yet for this.

Bob GrierParticipant@argonvesher, I have my MC Escher Relativity MOC, the HP Chomping Monster Book of Monsters (set #76499) and a smaller HP Potions book (green in the attached) all currently at Shaler Library (see picture). They’re scheduled to come out of there sometime this week so I can send them for this event if you think they’d be appropriate.
I can bring them with me to the Airport Open House #2 on October 11th to hand off to you.

Bob GrierParticipantAugust 23rd works for Denise and I.
August 9, 2025 at 1:06 pm #65523
Bob GrierParticipantQuick update on this before the Q3 meeting. Denise and I are both registered to display and represent the LUG at this event being held October 24-26th at the Corning Glass Museum in Corning NY. We have (2) 6 ft. tables reserved, and our hotel room is booked (discounted rated ended up being $143/night).
As far as I can tell, it looks like there will be around 70 tables total, with all but 3 of those reserved as of yesterday. Event details can be found on the Discord server for the event. https://discord.gg/mhMgNxUeEJ
If anyone else is considering going, registration closes as soon as these last 3 tables are reserved, or September 1st whichever comes sooner. The registration link is on the Discord server.
Other LUG’s registered to display include ROCLUG/CNYBricks, BuffaLUG, ILUGNY, CharmCityLUG (Baltimore), ColonialLUG (Philadelphia) and BioniLUG (online), so there will be pretty broad-based regional coverage.

Bob GrierParticipantWe are probably looking at Saturday, August 16 for tear down. Let me know if anyone foresees a problem with that. Thank you.
@timf, August 16th is the Q3 Meeting/Birthday party down at Josh’s, so probably not a good day for tear down at Cranberry.May 31, 2025 at 8:04 pm #64606
Bob GrierParticipantIs the most recent folder from May 4th at the stadium?
Try it now @greg. I uploaded it earlier but for some reason the folder link disappeared from the Gallery page. I just updated it again and it should be there now. It’s right next to the Star Wars folder on my screen.

Bob GrierParticipantPictures from the install today have been uploaded to the Gallery. To view them, click on the Gallery link at the top right of any page, and then click on the 2025-05 Cranberry Library folder.

Bob GrierParticipantCouple of suggested edits to the Agenda:
1. Empire Brick Con is in Corning, NY, not Rochester NY. The two are about 100 miles apart. I’ll be glad to take the lead on that event.
2. Project Support should be added as an item to discuss. I think the deadline for submission is the end of June.

Bob GrierParticipantSoft registration is now open thru the Discord Channel. I’ve signed up for (2) 6 ft. x 30″ tables for now. Denise and I are both planning to attend.
May 9, 2025 at 8:28 am #64301
Bob GrierParticipant@timf, as I mentioned in an earlier post, don’t forget that we also have over 24,000 1×1 bricks in a variety of colors that we ordered as part of Project Support for Mosaics last year. There are something like 45 different colors in quantities that range from 400 to 600 per color.
As Krista advised these are currently at @joshhall’s house. He’ll have to advise as to the availability of some or all of these for the duration of the Cranberry display (June thru mid-August).

Bob GrierParticipantDenise and I are interested in attending and displaying at this event! We’re both from Upstate NY, and I grew up about an hour north of Corning.
I signed up on the event Discord server and will keep an eye out for when event registration opens.

Bob GrierParticipantPretty Awesome Sauce!! Can’t wait to hear the stories!!

Bob GrierParticipantWe ended up improvising a 20″ x 40″ table filler to go between the (4) 40″x40″ tables that were butted up against the (2) 90″x40″ Mega tables in the Worlds Area for Home and Garden (see attached).
Could be useful to have a 20″x40″ “half table” to do the same thing for future events.

Bob GrierParticipantHi @markm75, I did the downtown Pittsburgh microscale MOC that I assume you saw pictures of from Home & Garden. I’ve attached a few here for reference that you can hopefully zoom in on to get some ideas on how I did different buildings and bridges.
I can tell you that my MOC has evolved over the past 4 years, starting with something as small as a single baseplate (10″x10″) and getting reworked and expanded numerous times over the years. My suggestions/advice for you starting out would be:
* Pick a size for your platform that you can work with, both in terms of where you will have it displayed at your house and how you can both get it out of your house and transport it if you want to display it at shows. Mine is on a 49″ x 35″ piece of plywood (the size was set by what will fit on my Foosball table), and it’s built in modular sections that I can easily separate to get it out of my house and reassembled quickly. The three rivers make idea dividing points for the modules.
* Pick a scale and try to stick to it. My city is now at approximately 1″ = 200 feet but it wasn’t always that way and some of the evolution it’s gone through has been to get it to scale.
* Plates work and look much better than bricks when building at microscale. It will cost more to do this, but the buildings will look better and more realistic.
* Google maps is a great resource for getting both a birds-eye and street view of specific buildings.Feel free to reach out if you have questions, and I’d be happy to help out if I can. Happy building!!
