15 years after the release of the original Mindstorms, LEGO has announced the next generation, called EV3, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
It looks to be a massive upgrade from NXT, both in terms of hardware and software, and a big change is that you don’t need a PC (or Mac) to program it: you can do so on the EV3 itself or from your iOS or Android device.
LEGO Mindstorms EV3 will be available in the second half of 2013 and will have a suggested retail price of $349.99(USD), €349.99 (EUR) and $399.99 (CAD).

Looks interesting for fans of robotics!  Personally though, I’m a bit sad to see the bulky servos return.  I was hoping for smaller ones /:

yeah, I’m a little bummed i just bought an NXT since I was giving up on them innovating. Definitely sad the servos are still big too.

I haven’t played with my NXT yet, now I’m not sure I will…
