you actually want to overexpose the image just enough for the whites to white out! see picture for what it looks like when exposed properly.
@mitchsbricks just wanted to complement you on the quality of your rockwork in that picture. It is very organic, even when zoomed in to look at the individual pieces, it still looks very natural and “rock-like”.
