Haven’t checked the forum recently…
I’m interested in participating this year too. Unfortunately life has made it such that I don’t have many new trains this year but I’ll certainly bring what I have.
I can help staff all day Saturday and Sunday in costume/uniform.

Apologies if this has been asked/answered already:
For getting in Saturday morning, will we be able to use the service elevator? My train boxes are large. An elevator would be helpful that morning.
I assume we can just say “I’m here to set up for the Locomotion event” and that will get us past having to pay admission?
@timf, is it possible to…[Read more]

That’s alright, I don’t have anything I can use them in/on currently.

Excellent. Thank you @timf for that useful information.
@joshhall is hosting the MILS build day this Saturday – I will drop off the remainder of my curve track so it will be ready to go come Friday. It should be as easy as placing the MILS baseplates down, then the track on top.
I will not be able to help until Saturday morning – planning to be…[Read more]

It would definitely be a good idea to have many display tracks, I could fill a table with the extra stuff I’d like to bring.
You just gave me something to research. I could probably find a typical consist of this train.

Ah, that was you next to the PennLUG display! I was displaying there that year.
My username has little to do with Santa Claus but I’ll help with the trains if need be.

I am fine with just about anything – I try not to be that particular. I have trains that I’d prefer to keep on the inside line JUST in case, but I have some I could use either way. Or we just go for it and run trains wherever.
Coming from PennLUG, I’m used to plexiglass lol

The Bluebrick draft looks nice.
I would suggest eliminating the back to back turnouts in the top left corner. That would allow large models to use the inside or outside loops, and the loops would be independent of each other.

As Josh said, yes, none of my locomotives will properly run through any curves less than R104. They are all battery powered.
I do have some R104 turnouts (switch tracks) but they lack ballast. It could be a challenge to have these ballasted on MILS before CSC weekend. However, if someone feels inspired to give it a shot, maybe we can work…[Read more]

Josh Hall and I spent some time Friday to ballast the large radius curves. A 12×20 layout, even if just a simple double-track loop, would be awesome. That said, how much straight track is ready and available on MILS?
I have more than enough scale-model locomotives and cars to swap out throughout the day.

I recognize that this may not be the point of our involvement, but I would like to offer up my modest collection of railroad artifacts to fill space should we find it necessary. I have a couple lanterns, historic photos and books, and plenty more.
If it’s not needed, no problem here. Happy to offer it anyway.

@joshhall “Also talked to Glenn a bit, and if we want to try to incorporate his trains, which need a wide radius track (which he has), we’re talking ~4x~8 baseplates for half a circle, so we’re looking at wanting a big foot print.”
Correct. If it becomes impractical, I can take a backseat with no problem, but running trains would be nice :)…[Read more]

What are the times for this event, including setup on Friday?
I will plan to bring some large radius curves and turnouts as well – that’s all I can use for the larger models. I have my own batteries and chargers.

It’s been a while since I participated, but as long as you’ll have me I would love to bring some trains. This is an event that I most likely can participate in.
I have unballasted track and plenty of “8-wide” models. I can also show up in full engineer or conductor clothes, because why not.

I will be attending on Sunday as a part of a small Lego layout representing the Strasburg railroad, so I will have trains to display. I don’t expect to be able to display everything on their layout, so if there is interest/space for having some trains on display, I can help out.
I also plan to host a small talk about lego steam locomotives that day.

I will plan to be there Saturday morning & early afternoon. I’ll need to leave by 4:30 for a previously made plan.
Will regular Lego tracks be used? I have a loop of 88 stud radius curved and 120 stud radius. I can bring them Saturday morning. Most of my locomotives won’t handle much less than that (a couple will, but the newer ones will not). I…[Read more]

I wasn’t able to make it this year due to prior obligations.
They did put a layout together and it’s very likely that somethings will change, the first of which may be the height of the rail.
I’ll be sure to post the revisions once they are finalized.

I don’t have anything old-timey, unfortunately. No Lone Ranger either.
I *might* could literally throw something together. No promises, but:
