@joshhall cover your eyes (or eyes) for this one,

I have glued pieces together in the past but they were strictly detail oriented and nothing else. In my experience though any kind of glue can cause pieces to break become brittle, or to just not look good on a finished model of any kind. I few years ago I found some crafting grade sticky putty (similar to the stuff they use to stick cards on paper in the mail) and that worked incredibly well. I had no pieces break, it left a clean look to it, and if the part came off in transport it stuck back on with no issue.

Its funny you mention this set, One of my co-workers just brought one of these sets into work for me to look through, It wasnt 100% complete, I quickly realized it did not have the truck portion, but most if not all of the other pieces were present. Truly a great set with some nice printing!

    Is that the Rebrickable version?

Correct, One of the several out there.

I took the “Up” House set and converted it to a full house. If you wanted to use it to tie further into an “adventure is out there” theme let me know.

Steel City LUG is now an option to select as a collab when you register your MOC.

I just went in and registered my first 10 MOCs. These will likely be the bulk of my MOCs, but I am going to go through my stuff and see if there is anything else I want to or should take before I finalize my list. Size wise (assuming my estimates are correct) I am sitting at appx 3/4 of one 8ft table. Goal for me is to have exactly one table worth of space reserved. I am also planning on bringing a small riser to maximize my space a bit and potentially bring in some Glow-Zone trucks. We will see if I can make it that far before the show.

Unsure if I will be able to make this one or not. Pencil me in as a definite solid maybe

It had actually already occurred to me that maybe I should volunteer for this.

Ben, Thank you for volunteering. I was willing to but having only been to one other brickfair event I wasn’t sure I was the best fit. I am more than willing to help, but I appreciate you starting the conversation

Very nice! I was thinking of doing something similar with the train shed but have not gotten around to it

I just went through and attempted to register my MOCs for this and it appears that Steel City LUG is not listed under the LUG option yet. That said I did not go through and register anything at this time

I saw this on the news last week but completely forgot to post about it here. Looking forward to any relationships we can form here!

I still have mine. It is in similar states as Dan’s and Tim’s. Being held together with packing tape and AFOL stickers. I still use it at the store, and on occasion I have certain employees ask me how old the card is because its their first time ever seeing a white and red card.

I have often conetemplated on taking in my black and silver millennium falcon card just so see if any of the store employees recognize it.

The website is not giving any time frame on when I should get an email from the HI about contacting them with a credit card (I’m pretty sure in the past it has actually said “within two weeks”). It’s definitely telling me I have a reservation, and that I don’t need to contact them, so I’m not going to worry about it.

Yeah, I had the same thing, It just in general said someone would be in contact with me. I’m perfectly fine with that. Its showing on the site that I reserved a room and that’s all I really care about.

As I recall, they ditched the 3rd brick last year to do the album tiles instead

Oh yes, now that you bring it up I do remember seeing something on social media about that. I wasn’t sure off hand and just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything or messing it up.

So Alexis and I are both registered and paid for, I have also put in a place holder for a hotel room at the Holiday inn, but have not received a call from their staff like the website said. @bengood921 do they not engrave the 3rd brick on the brick badges at this show? I Noticed when I registered it wouldn’t let me add anything. I’m assuming it is just due to the size of the show but also wanna make sure I’m not doing anything wrong

It really comes down to whether it’s a functional or cosmetic difference. If the piece is functionally different to where swapping the part throws off distances/measurements or makes your proposed build unworkable, I am opposed, but something like torso ribs or sprue marks, I don’t think will make much a difference.

I agree whole heartedly here. If it’s a cosmetic difference then I don’t care. As long as the overall parts and dimensions are the same, then that’s all that matters to me. However, If its a functionality difference then it must be separated.

different codes (see photo) on the boxes and I am wondering if these correspond to the minifigs inside

So interesting enough, The answer is yes. There’s an app (off hand I don’t remember the name, and as I type this I don’t have my phone on me to give it to you) that scans the data matrix codes (that’s right, they are not QR codes like a majority of people thought) that will tell you exactly which figure is in the box. I did this with a few at best buy but have not had time to open them to verify how well the app works. Worth noting there are small size Matrix codes and Large matrix codes. The app only works on the larger ones.

I went and registered Alexis and I today. I have not paid just yet, but will be paying soon. Once I pay I am going to go through and register all of my MOCs. I will wait add my MOCs until we come to a consensus as to what the best way to do it is. Personally If we go down the route of registering our own I will likely register everything fudge the size of some MOCs so that I get a full table or two (still have not decided what all I am going to take at this point).

This was my first time attending, but I had a lot of fun! Will for sure be prioritizing this for future years.

Confirmed I will be attending! More than likely will be registering this weekend, If the spots they have at the holiday inn sell out, anyone have any alternative hotels? Or do we want to potentially skip the holiday inn and see if another hotel would give us our own block that way we are all together?

So just an update here on my end of things, I am still coming tomorrow for set up, I plan on being there around 2. That should be plenty of time for me to set up what I have planned and then head out. As of right now I’m bringing 3 buildings (no “UP” house unfortunately), a bunch of fire trucks and my forest fire scene. If we use it, great. If not, that’s great too. I am not planning on bringing the MILS plate for the scene though. My plan was to just use the MILS plates already down on the table instead of pulling some out and putting in mine which right now look less than natural.

Due to work and some other plans I can not staff at all on Saturday. I will however be there in part Sunday. My plan is to get there between 1 and 1:30ish and stay through tear down.

we’ll check, but I would expect that if you’re bringing your wagon in with boxes they will want you to go in through the Security entrance and sign in. That would actually probably be easier anyway in that you wouldn’t have to figure out a path from the lot to the main entrance that doesn’t involve stairs.

Oh yes, that makes sense. Sorry I wasn’t even thinking about that aspect. For what its worth, I work the night before so I likely will not be there right at 1. More thank likely between 1:30-2. Right now I am planning on bringing my buildings and fire trucks mentioned. If needed to fill space I can bring all the stuff for my Brush/Forest fire scene.

Bob, Just clarifying, if we do not need the loading dock are we able to just park in the main lot and walk through the main entrance doors? I was planning on bringing my Wagon which should be more than enough space for what I am bringing. So I likely wont need the loading dock.

I went and added my building MOCs to the list, I took the 4 open baseplates behind the incline for my little street which will include my Disney Store, the Luxury High-Rise (2 baseplates) and either the UP house or my small fire station. If needed (or desired rather) I can bring both buildings and we can put the UP House somewhere else if it makes more sense or need to fill holes. Ideally I would like to have the roadway in front of my spaces be filled with fire trucks for a fire scene but just looking at the depth planned, It will be hard to get everything set up unless I get the trucks and minifigs placed before I place the buildings. We shall see.

This really is an excellent deal. While I have no use for hundreds of these items, I have interest in some of the parts! Let me run some numbers and I will email you here soon. Thanks for this great offer @bigbbricks, and Happy Holidays!
