There is an online auction with pickup in eastern Ohio that has a Lego lot with some monorail track. It is hard to tell from the one picture how much track there is or if there are any additional items such as a motor.

I think the idea is that having an event leader AND an inventory manager define it is to provide a simple system of checks and balances. I don’t see how adding a minifig to a display could possibly be agreed upon as a shift. A standard shift is ~4 hours or setup/teardown. Anything other than that should get agreement with an inventory manager.…[Read more]

From the handbook:
Cup credits can be earned in a couple ways:
1 small cup for being a first time member at a meeting. These do not accumulate.
1 small cup for anyone sorting effort (sorting party, taking a box home to sort)
1 small cup for each staffed shift at a LUG event (shifts as defined by event leaders and inventory managers)
1 large cup…[Read more] -

When Josh and I took things to trolley, it was about equal to one full van load and the back of an SUV. I should be able to make it to teardown and can bring a van load of stuff to Josh’s. As Josh says, if there are items going to Greenberg that don’t have to go to Josh’s, that would be helpful.

Josh and I dropped off the LUG stuff. The LUG does not have 9V track so I brought mine. It is in a purple box along with some baseplates. The baseplates are marked with my initials on a sticker, the track is not. Both are available for use as needed. If the track is used, it might be nice to keep it all in one area such as the HP area so that it…[Read more]

Do you prefer baseplates or plates? what size are you planning? I talked to @joshhall and sounds like he could probably get them to you at Cranberry Library teardown if that works.

@timf, I am not sure if the LUG has a stockpile of tan baseplates, but I have some that could be used if needed. I have 11 16×32 and 1 16×16 tan baseplates. Alternatively, I have 36 16×16 tan plates. Is this something you need ahead of time or at setup?

My shortsightedness led to me taking stuff to trolley that I can not pick up tomorrow during the teardown time. Does anyone plan to be there that would have room to transport my stuff?

Fort is done and is 3×3 baseplates (96×96 studs). I also have the shooting gallery from last year that is 1 baseplate. Finally, I will bring a dinosaur museum that is 2×2 baseplates.
I will probably be able to be there Friday at about 4 to help set up.

I am working on a western fort out of the old brown log panels and bricks. Should be done on time. I think it will end up 64×64 or 96×96 and will be MILSed on tan plates. I have about a dozen of the blue soldiers but I am sure it could be populated with more.

If you are referring to the R104 turns, they are done all with straight track. They space the outer tie by 1/2 stud per piece of straight track and it makes a long gentle curve. You can see pictures of it at pennlug.com/.

Exclusive minifig with a $50 purchase in store this weekend. I hadn’t seen anything about this. Might be worth a store visit if you are in the area.

The roller coaster track is red so they are all from set 10261. It includes:
24 90 degree curves (25061), 10261 has 12
4 ramp upper part (26560), same as 10261
4 ramp lower part (26559), same as 10261
7 ramp straight (26561), same as 10261
3 long straight (25059), same as 10261

I have a 48X48 dinosaur museum that is nearly complete. I am pretty sure I can have it done by then if it would be useful. I also have the dino sets from 2012 (5882-5888). I can’t get anything custom done with them in time, but I could bring the dinos or the sets if wanted.

Personally, I would leave it the way it is for now to see how it works in a display. My guess is that if you bring the whole thing forward half a table or place it near a corner of the layout, people will be able to see it well enough. After you get a display weekend done, then maybe update as needed based on how people react, how reliably it runs, etc.

Some thoughts:
Greg, it is good to point out the need to be patient on these matters and I appreciate that a project could take a while to materialize and much longer to finalize. My main concern is basically what Josh posted – if someone is ready to put them to good use now, I don’t want to hold on to them for a dream project that never…[Read more]

I am fine with hanging on to them for now to see if a project materializes. Overall, I don’t think the LUG should be in the business of stockpiling materials just for the sake of doing so. If a project doesn’t materialize over the next few months, I think it would make sense to have them redeemable.
